The Wiccan Federation
The Wiccan Federation
The Wiccan Federation provides contacts and training for those actively involved in Wicca or seeking to be involved. This is through a network of city based Wiccan covens. Each coven provides a contact and this network of contacts maintains the central organisation and ensures that new members can access the existing members in their area to develop their Wiccan practice. Any coven whose nominated contact is a member of the Federation can join this network of covens.
Currently the following are supported
1) A network of city based connection points on Meetup to allow access to the constituent groups.
2) A link to digital and face to face initiatory training courses of the constituent covens. We link to any Wiccan training course run by the covens, however a core part of our activity is to ensure that at least one course is available across the UK at any time. This is currently done under the umbrella of the Thirteen Knots course which is made accessible to all members. There are, however, other courses are run by other constituent parts of the Federation and anyone interested is connected with all available training.
3) The Wiccan Federation runs a website is maintained by the core network of active members behind the web address www.wicca.uk. This website is supported by a number of covens in the Federation, with the ultimate responsibility lying with the White Horse Coven.
4) The Wiccan Federation supports the publishing of written material, particularly books, which explain Wicca from the standpoint of an active coven based practicioner.
5) The Federation runs a forum at http://wiccanfederation.createaforum.com
The Wiccan Federation is coordinated by a small group of dedicated practitioners who work to keep open access to initiatory Wiccan practice and to the older lines that sit within the tradition.

As long as you remain connected to this network of WhatsApp groups you will be a member of the Wiccan Federation and information for members is distributed through these groups. Any member wishing to leave the Federation can do so by disconnecting from these WhatsApp groups.
Accountability to the Membership
The Wiccan Federation is maintained by a network of active members who run their own covens which generally have connected groups. Accountability to the members is through these covens and groups, rather than through the Federation which simply acts to support these groups. The Federation does not seek to control or represent Wicca. There are no titles or leadership in the Federation, these are held within particular covens and orders. The Federation has no financial assets or land, although our members do own land including woodland which is used by members. All assets are maintained by individuals, groups, covens and orders within the Federation. There is no membership or subscription fee. Accountability to the members is maintained through these groups and the Federation is only responsible for facilitating the strong continuation of these groups rather than mandating any particular approach. The limited assets used by the Federation are all ultimately owned by individual assemblies/covens or by solitaries.
Any coven whose leader is a member of the Federation can join the network of contacts which coordinate activities under the Federation umbrella provided that they make it clear which coven or group is running a particular activity. If they wish to take action under the umbrella of the Wiccan Federation they are free to do so. If there is an objection by any other group within the Federation then they will be asked to perform that action under their own name, rather than using the name of the Federation. All activities are legally the responsibility of the underlying coven or assembly supporting that activity.
In the event that a particular coven is promoting activities under the Federation umbrella that other covens object to the key contacts within the Federation would be gathered at a General Assembly. The activity in dispute would be raised and a vote of the members aranged. Once the decision is taken the constituent covens would be bound to abide by the view of the majority or leave the Federation. At this point the network would be split between the minority of dissenters and the majority. If the Federation is split the assets of the Federation would revert to their original covens or individual owners. This would include: books in the library, web domains, meetup groups and magazine names. The name of the Wiccan Federation would remain with the White Horse Coven. Under normal circumstances White Horse would accept the majority view since to not do so would risk the continuation of the Federation.
